Every day in Ukraine, wounded soldiers and civilians are trapped under drones, artillery, and landmines.
Reaching them safely is often impossible.
That’s why Ukrainian engineers and frontline medics created MAUL. This is an unmanned evacuation vehicle designed to rescue the injured without risking more lives.
When evacuation became too dangerous, a new solution was needed

In 2023, casualty evacuation in Ukraine became significantly more dangerous. The growing use of FPV drones turned rescue missions into high-risk operations. What once worked no longer did. “Classical” evacuation methods began putting medical crews in even greater danger.

Medics from the 1st International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began testing unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).
But existing platforms weren’t suitable:
- Not built for evacuation
- Not adapted to combat conditions
- No flexibility from manufacturers

With no viable solution available, the decision was clear: Ukrainian engineers and frontline medics developed their own evacuation platform, designed specifically for real combat conditions and real rescue missions.

In 2024, the first version of MAUL was created. It's a rescue robot shaped by frontline experience and real combat needs, designed to evacuate the wounded safely when every second matters.
With the support of United Ukraine Appeal and donors like you, these MAUL robots became our first fleet of life-saving evacuation drones, supporting frontline medics in critical rescue missions.
So far the robots we purchased saved 11 lives. These are 11 families that were spared the grief of losing a loved one.
Maul Robot 4: Ganna Cosmos. This newly purchased robot has already saved 1 life in Kostyantynivka. You can see the footage of the rescue here. The robot continues operating on the Ukrainian frontline.
Maul Robot 3: Charlie. This robot participated in 3 missions (2 cancelled) and saved 1 life. It was destroyed in Konstyantynivka.
Maul Robot 2: Vopli Vidopliassova. Saved 4 lives. Exploded on a landmine. The soldier inside remained unharmed and was later rescued. Participated in 6 missions (2 cancelled). It was destroyed near Reznykivka.
Maul Robot 1: Dr Tom. Saved 5 lives. Was hit by an enemy FPV drone (the soldier inside the armoured capsuled remained unharmed and was rescued). You can see the video of one of the rescue operations here. This robot was destroyed in Konstyantynivka.
These robots are produced directly in Ukraine. A robot with a basic configuration (without EW systems on board) costs UAH 800,000. At the current exchange rate this is around AUD 30,000, but the actual price will vary depending on the exchange rate on the day of purchase.
