Together with multiple different partners around the world Ukrainians in Sydney were involved in a number of campaigns in support of Ukraine. Below is the list of some of the key campaigns that we participated in.

Free the Taipans – an international campaign focussed on Taipan Helicopters that the Australian government refused to send to Ukraine.
Positive outcomes: $846 Million was pledged by the Australian government in 2024 including 49 M1A1 Abrams tanks.

Free the Taurus – an international campaign focussed on Taurus Missiles that Germany refused to send to Ukraine.
Positive outcomes: Germany unblocked the EUR 3 Billion military aid package for Ukraine and increased military aid to EUR 11.5 Billion in 2026.

Free the Hawkei – an international campaign focussed on Hawkei armoured vehicles that Australia refused to send to Ukraine.
Positive outcomes: In July 2023 the Australian government committed to sending the following military aid to Ukraine:
• 70 military vehicles, including: 28 M113 armoured vehicles, 14 Special Operations Vehicles, and 28 MAN 40M medium trucks and 14 trailers.
• Supply of 105mm artillery ammunition.
• E-7A Wedgetail surveilance airplane + 100 crew to help protect the flow of military aid to Ukraine
• 30 Bushmasters

Atlassian – an international campaign focussed on making sure that Atlassian (an Australian IT giant) exits russia.
Positive outcomes: After 3 months of us campaigning nationally and with our international partners Atlassian fully exited russia and donated $10 Million of its russian revenue to Ukrainian charities: Future Ukraine and United Ukraine Appeal.

Canva – an Australian national campaign focussed on making sure that Canva (an Australian IT giant) exits russia.
Positive outcomes: After us campaigning for about 2 weeks in Sydney Canva pulled the plug on russia and blocked over 1.5 million russian users.

2024 Olympic Games – an international campaign focussed on stopping russia’s participating in Olympic Games.
Positive outcomes: After a powerful international campaign which included protests at local olympic committees around the world – team russia and belarus were banned from 2024 Olympics, russians and belorusians were banned from participating in the opening and closing ceremonies, no anthem or flags of these countries were permitted. Only 15 russian athletes were permitted to participate as “neutrals”.

Free the Leopards – an international campaign that included protests at German embassies and consulates around the world that was focussed on Germany sending leopard tanks for Ukraine. Our group held multiple protests at the German consulate in Sydney.
Positive outcomes: Germany and USA started sending tanks to Ukraine after months of campaigning.
